In casual language (English at least),
the word home is imbued with notions of permanence and stability.
Something/somewhere fixed
A refuge and/or retreat
from the so called ‘outside world’.

Home for some is the traditional view of a white picket fence
with 2.4 children and a homeland
in which they have spent their entire life
and are emotionally and mentally connected to their friends and family ,
constant and consistent a stable existence

For some it may be a nomadic, transient existence
where the notion of home is a collective unit
carried through different physical environments.

For others,
displaced through war/genocide
it begins as memories of a former existence erased for them by forces beyond their control
which then must evolve somehow into something altogether more complex and profound.

Having lived in multiple countries
and having returned after 3 decades to a country in which I was born and grew up in,
(albeit as the child of immigrants
and as such culturally at times in a flux of belonging),
...the notion of home is one that often renders me perplexed.

Home for me is a collection of moments in time,
where I have experienced a sense of safety and belonging,
whether fleeting or more permanent.
Moments which, whether they have passed or remained,
have formed a collective sensation I have carried with me throughout my
travels and daily life.
Moments which I have held onto
...and which have held onto me.
